Tate's Bake Shop Baking for Friends Review (and a Giveaway!)

(This giveaway is now closed.  Congratulations to Cabesh!)

Tate's Bake Shop consistently receives awards and acclaim for their fabulous cookies and other goodies.  Maybe you've seen their cookies at your favorite gourmet market.

Kathleen King, the owner and founder of Tate's Bake Shop, has just written a fantastic book, Baking For Friends, that has me cheering.  There are so many great recipes to get you in the mood for Holiday baking.  I've bookmarked a bunch that I want to make to take to neighbors and friends.

There are so many recipes for tasty baked goods and she didn't leave those of us with sensitivities and allergies out.  There is a whole section in the book for vegan, gluten-free, and health-conscious recipes.  (And the other recipes look like they'll be super easy for me to adapt to vegan and/or gluten-free.)

It's your lucky day, my lovely friends.  Tate's Bake Shop wants to giveaway this Cookie and Bar Tower to one of you!  Just in time for the Holidays!  (I'm a little jealous, I have to say.)

There's something something for everyone in this Cookie and Bar Tower--three 7-oz boxes of cookies (one each of chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and white chocolate chip macadamia nut), two rich, buttery raspberry bars, two chocolate chip and walnut loaded blondies, and two rich, dense and fudgy plain brownies. Each 7-oz box contains approximately 12 cookies, and bars measure a generous 4" x 2.75".

You want this, don't you?  All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me your favorite treat to take to your friends and neighbors and you'll be entered to win.

AND...Tate's is offering Cafe Johnsonia readers $5.00 off the Baking For Friends cookbook.  Enter the coupon code:  BAKEOFF when you check out.

Good luck friends!

My favorite treat to take to neighbors is peppermint bark!

Hmmm. It changes yearly. Last year I made a pretzel, caramel, chocolate bark that was out of control good. That way my favorite then. I think I'm going to make cheese balls for this year! What a sweet give-away! Melissa

We love taking neighbor plates around complete with chocolate chip cookies, chocolate crinkle cookies, sugar cookies, rocky road and cinnamon almonds. :)

At this time of the year the thing I bring with me the most is the eggnog bread that I make. In fact I have a few people already wondering if and or when they will get theirs.

Our favorite thing to share with neighbors during the holidays is homemade toffee--my dad's recipe.

I like to take some kind of spiced nuts to family, but I always make a lot of Christmas cookies every year and take a variety over to the neighbors. The iced cutout cookies in holiday shapes are usually the hit.

I like to make an assortment of cookies. Also every year my neighbors ask for Cinnamon Almonds, so I usually end up making lots of those too. :)

I love to make baskets with a large variety of treats to take to my friends and family, but I always make sure to include a delicious spice cookie. I think spice cookies just embody all the warmth of the seasons.

Our new favorite shareable treat is freshly-baked bread. The kind depends on the recipient, but fresh is always key! [lkat80@gmail.com]

I love making and taking layer bars to friends and neighbors. layer bars with condensed milk, coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and sometimes nuts with graham cracker bottom. So yummy!

I love to bring homemade candy (peanut butter balls, truffles, fudge) to share with my friends during this time of year.

Last year was lemon curd, but I've done caramels a lot too.

I love to bake up a batch of brownies to share.

I always make assorted plates of cookies and candy... I think the fudge and caramels tend to be the most popular.

Curried pecans, chocolate chip cookies, frosted sugar cookies or molasses cookies are our favorite treats. Or magic bars -- yummy!

Hi!
We have bush cherries in our yard, so we pick them in July, juice them, and make cherry jelly to give away at Christmas. It is such a pretty Christmas-y color, and it is fun to see our neighbors smiles.
Doesn't Tate's look like a fun place to visit?:)
Happy Holidays!

Yum! Who can't use some extra treats at this time of year! I am the new cookie monster! (and my kids and grandkids are mini monsters!) Thanks! We love chocolate chunk pretzel cookies with caramel drizzled on top! So do our neighbors!

Year before last we took Amish cinnamon bread, along with the recipe and a starter and it's was a HUGE hit. I still have friends mention it, two years later!

My husband always makes fudge and I love peppermint bark because it's so easy!
